What is hospice care?
Hospice & Palliative Care is a program of the Visiting Nurse Association of Southeastern Massachusetts, Inc. When medical treatment can no longer add days to a life, terminally ill patient's most fervent wish is to live out each day with fulfillment and dignity, in the comfort of their own home. Hospice & Palliative Care is dedicated to helping patients and their loved ones cope with terminal illness to find comfort, quality of life and peace throughout this most difficult journey. Serving the community since 1979, the multidisciplinary team of Hospice & Palliative Care is committed to providing comprehensive,
compassionate care which:

  • Gives terminally ill patients the chance to live each day fully and comfortably
  • Meets the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of patients and their loved ones
  • Fosters spiritual growth to help patients and their loved ones find within themselves strength, integrity, self-worth, reconciliation and inner peace

Hospice Care
Supportive care for terminally ill patients of all ages and their loved ones:

Palliative Care Services
Home health services for patients with a terminal diagnosis seeking curative treatment:

  • Skilled nursing and rehabilitative therapies
  • Pain and symptom management
  • 24-hour nurse availability
  • Medical social workers

Camp Erin
A weekend grief support camp for children and teens who have experienced the death of a loved one.

Accessing hospice services
Individuals may request hospice services or be referred by their physician or health care providers, family members or friends. Patients are accepted based on their health care needs - not on their ability to pay. However, most patients qualify for reimbursement through Medicare, Medicaid, HMOs and private insurance companies.
