Sharon Jones to lead Southcoast’s system-wide VNA, home care and hospice programs

Southcoast Health System has named Sharon Jones as the new leader of its region-wide home care and hospice services that serve Southeastern Massachusetts and East Bay, R.I. Jones holds the dual positions of Chief Executive Officer of the Visiting Nurse Association of Southeastern Massachusetts, part of Southcoast Health System, and Vice President of Southcoast Home Care, Hospice & Palliative Care & Infusion.

Jones has a distinguished career in home health services, joining Southcoast from the Visiting Nurse Association of Ohio in Cleveland, where she worked for the past 30 years. Beginning her career as a staff nurse for the agency, she primarily served in senior management-level positions, most recently holding the title of Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. She also served as Clinical Supervisor, Director of Nursing and Vice President of Patient Care Services.

Jones received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from St. John College in Cleveland and a Master of Science in Nursing in Family Health Nursing and Administration from the University of Akron in Akron, Ohio.

She has served on numerous boards, including the Visiting Nurse Associations of America, the Young Women’s Christian Association, the Institute for Education Renewal, the Eliza Jennings Senior Care Network, the American Telemedicine Association, the National Association for Home Care and Hospice and the Center for Health Affairs, Northeast Ohio Nursing Initiative.

She was the 2003 recipient of the Community Partnership Award, presented by the Cuyahoga County Commissioners, the prestigious 2002 Volunteer of the Year award from United Way of Greater Cleveland and was presented with the YMCA of Greater Cleveland’s Women of Professional Excellence award in1993. In her spare time, Jones enjoys ballroom dancing and is a member of the USA Dance Association. Jones resides in Warren, R.I. with her husband James Herbert.
